SalzBurger

Initial situation and needs analysis We created a brand new food-service concept for the recently opened Terminal 2 at W. A. Mozart Airport in Salzburg. The major challenge was to create an attractive food-service outlet for the weekly floods of charter flight passengers during the winter season as well as the year-round food-service core of an unmatched event location, Amadeus Terminal 2. We developed a custom solution, SalzBurger, for the needs of Salzburg Airport based on representative results from a survey of departing charter passengers conducted by Creativ Research. Solution This clearly Austrian fast-food concept with its assortment of products matched perfectly to the target audience tempts international charter passengers to eat something in the terminal before taking off or to purchase a snack for the flight. SalzBurger intentionally leaves out deep-fried foods since today’s guests prefer reduced-fat and fresh fare. SalzBurger prepares all food with fresh ingredients and offers alternative products such as vegetarian burgers and pizza and much more. As a result, we avoid that typical “McDonald’s smell” that withstands even the most powerful exhaust air system. Even our sweets are reduced fat and prepared with fresh ingredients. We offer apple strudel, cookies, real fruit muffins, yogurt and much more. The light food options and exclusive drink selection sets SalzBurger apart from traditional fast-food concepts such as McDonald’s and Burger King. As the food-service hub of the Amadeus Terminal 2 event location, SalzBurger scores points with its perfect infrastructure and offers the highest possible level of flexibility for events. The service counter can be converted quickly for events. Hoods and cash registers can be removed, a bar can be placed on top of the counter, and overhead menu boards can be flipped over. Tables can be arranged throughout the food-service area as needed for large events. The guest area can be used as a VIP lounge, and a portable stage can be set up for musical performances.
